Can nonprofit compete with for-profit?
Can a nonprofit trade association compete with large for-profit members like the ones that, in their capacity as members of the association, caused the association’s executive director to be dismissed? And if the association can’t compete, does that mean that the exec has a claim against the for-profits for tortious interference with his job? Those were among the issues raised by the former executive director of the Truck Rental and Leasing Association when he asked a federal District Court to reconsider its decision dismissing his claims against the for-profit members.
