9th Circuit affirms anti-trust decision
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has affirmed a District Court decision finding a violation of the Clayton Act as the result of a hospital system’s acquisition of a physicians group in Idaho. The Court has affirmed the trial court’s order for the hospital to divest itself of the group. St. Luke’s Health System in Nampa acquired the Saltzer Medical Group, the largest independent multi-specialty physician group in Idaho, with 34 of its physicians practicing at its office in Nampa. The only hospital in the town was operated by Saint Alphonsus Health System, part of the multi-state Trinity Health System.
