Accountant denied equal pay, retaliation claims
The Third Circuit Court of Appeals has affirmed a District Court decision denying Equal Pay Act and retaliation claims brought by a woman accountant against the YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh. The woman claimed that she was hired at a salary less than her predecessor and that her successor was paid more after she was fired. But the Court noted that her predecessor had been hired to set up a new computerized payroll system and that the woman had been hired simply to process the work. After she mentioned that she was not being paid as well as her predecessor, her work began to suffer.
